DepthCon2000 demonstration download

This page contains the link to the demonstration files for Version 3.1 which we are making available for FTP download. Please read the terms of use, which can be found under the License page.

File "demo2000.zip" includes all the necessary components for the demo. You'll need WinZip or PowerArchiver to extract the contents, and if you don't have one of those programs they can be downloaded from many outlets on the Internet.

When you click on the download hyperlink (demo2000.zip) on this page you will be asked for the destination location for the file, which can be a temporary location on your hard disk drive. The demo2000.zip file will then be downloaded to the destination location that you specified.

The zip file contains a 6.2 Mb file called balance2000.CAB which packages the application's Visual Basic executable and the program's C++ dynamically-linked library, together with four Microsoft ocx files. And the zip has a set of example bitmaps which are described in work notes supplied with the program Help files. The download time could be around 10 minutes, and when the file is unzipped it will occupy 12.4 Mb. The bitmaps account for about 8.4 Mb of this amount.

Once the file has been downloaded use WinZip to extract the contents.

When you supply the final directory name (which can be any one you like,  WinZip will propose the Program Directory but you may prefer to make a new one) the file is unzipped and there are 44 component files listed.

Now, run  setup.exe and it starts the DepthCon2000 file installation.

This transfer completes the full installation of the DepthCon2000 program, and it can now be run from the Start menu or by double-clicking on the executable's file name in NT Explorer, etc.  You'll also be able to uninstall DepthCon2000 by using the Windows Add/Remove Programs utility.

The demo will only read the files provided. It won't save files, but most of the functionality can be explored. It does not time-out. If you want to update in due course, the current version can be downloaded again.

When you run the program your monitor should be set to True Color mode. The program executable runs under XP, NT, Win98, Win95. If your Windows software is set up to run Spanish or French versions of Windows, you'll need to enter "Regional Settings" and select English (UK) mode: that's because there are differences in date and number rendering in various versions of Windows world-wide.

Good luck with all this, and if you have a problem or want to discuss any aspect of the program, please call us. We would like to hear from you.

We'd naturally like to know who are the folk downloading, but its entirely optional on your part to tell us. We'll be very pleased if you do contact us, use john@www.digitalgeology.co.uk,  and if you have thoughts on the site, questions, or you are writing software for exploration, perhaps you'd like to contact us? Especially, please tell us if you are interested in intelligent algorithms for section interpretation, that's an area we are looking at right now.
